Maker Class – Arduino

2017 Spring Session, Saturday afternoon 4:30pm – 6:00pm

For grade 5 to grade 8

Interested in engineering, technology, and making things, but aren’t sure where to start? We have the class for you.

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. It has been used in thousands of different projects and applications.

In this class, young makers will:

  • Learn electrical circuits
  • Practice basic programming skills
  • Make several hands-on creations

It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or have some experience. You will enjoy these fun activities!

BCA Academy After Hours LEGO Robotics Class

Join our class and see the future of the world at BCA Academy After Hours! Learn everything from the foundations of building and programming your own LEGO robot to making LEGO robots that can solve missions and battle with each other

Huaxia Chinese School LEGO NXT Class

Experience the future of the world with the next step of LEGO Robotics, LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT! Students will work in small groups to build and program LEGO robots to do specific tasks.

In this class, students will learn

  1. What robots are
  2. Best building and programming practices
  3. Important connections from class to the world
  4. Life skills, like teamwork, public speaking, and leadership

Students will always learn through experience and hands-on activities for better information retention and more experience.

The school will provide NXT sets for each small group, a laptop, and programming software for use in class.

This class is an important opportunity for your child to experience the future and learn how to be a leader in it.

Huaxia Chinese School LEGO WeDo Class

Want to gain experience in the first steps of the field of LEGO robotics? That’s exactly what this class will help you to do: building and programming a robotics construction set called LEGO WeDo while following theme-based activities.

Students will not only gain experience in LEGO robotics, they will also:

  1. Experience hands-on learning
  2. Learn independent problem solving
  3. Develop skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
  4. Use critical thinking as they plan, create, and evaluated the projects that they create
  5. Learn how to debug their programs

The school will provide the use of a Lego WeDo Robotics construction set, a laptop computer, and Lego WeDo Robotics programming software. At the completion of the week, students will present their group projects to whole class.
